With financial translation, numbers and currency are usually abundant. This means having a real eye for detail.
Therefore, when we receive your document, if it’s a PDF, we’ll convert it to an editable format and double-check all the numbers before beginning, thus saving time later down the line. Then, when translating, we’ll take particular attention to adapt all numbers to the target language. To give an example, €100,000 (one-hundred thousand euros) in English is 100.000€ in Spanish (which is one hundred euros in English). Also, traditionally in British English, a billion has been used as the equivalent to a million million (i.e. 1,000,000,000,000), whilst in American English it has always equated to a thousand million (i.e. 1,000,000,000). Although the UK has now adopted the US model, this is still something that is sometimes confused and would need checking.
Moreover, if you’d like us to, we can convert all your numbers to a different currency, in which case we’ll add a footnote in the document, stating the exchange rate, date and source.
